Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Our mentorship program was founded in 2005 at Northwood Elementary located in Baltimore, Maryland. They were girls ages 10 and 11 called the Lil Divahs. We developed a peer-to-peer ,group and e-mentoring program to study God's Word through lessons on issues such as envy, lonliness, gossip and more. Our monthly meetings are held the first Saturday of every month, during which the program director conducts valuable lessons that address issues, challenges and problems facing our youth. The girls are take turns hosting the meeting and are encouraged to " Keep It Real" while sharing positive news and concerns, problems they may have and be active in the community via activites and projects throughout the year.

School-based Mentoring Program
*Contracted with individual schools through community partnership
In March 2005, a community activist and philanthropist, our founder initiated a pilot school/community based program in response to inappropriate dress and behaviors seen at Northwood Elementary (#242). In 2006, we reached out to the youth attending Chinquapin Middle school due some students behaviors and community issues surrounding the school. In 2007, we expanded the program to include high school students to prevent drop out, teenage pregnancy and to help ease the transition to adulthood and thereafter. Now in 2008, we hope to expand our program in more schools through school-community partnership.
The school would serve as the primary mentoring site, for administrative needs and some activities. Our mentoring partnership will be for the duration of the school year and require an one year commitment. This means each student will be mentored in school and out of school, through our community outreach. Each parent/student has an option to continue the mentoring relationship the following year.
We discuss school related and non-school related issues, such as self (esteem, love, worth) , loyalty, friendship, honesty, teamwork, discipline, jealousy, drugs and alcohol, stealing, lonliness and more. Youth participation will be initiated by referrals from counselors, teachers, school staff and parent request.
